Well it’s time to revive the blog again it seems and yes, I’m using a prepackaged theme this time, the brilliant Atahualpa Theme by BytesForAll. I’m doing so much PHP for work these days that I don’t always want to be fiddling with my own stuff so I figured something easier to maintain was in order and this seems to be it. Hopefully moving it to the root of this domain will force me to update more often. All the old posts going back to the start of 2000 are there for what it’s worth – I do have the even older stuff but it’s not in a fit state to import and is pretty much valueless at this point. The binary image in the header is taken from a picture by flaivoloka and was found on the excellent free stock images site sxc.hu.
I still need to do something with my old zorg.org site which hasn’t been touched in years now. Surprisingly some of the stuff on there is still very popular though so I need to decide what is worth keeping and what I’m going to do with it.

I am off work on holiday this week so I found time to add a couple of things:
1. There is now a top referers section on the left hand side, below the poll. This is to replace the old Reciprocal Links section and it will automatically list the top 10 sites refering visitors to this site.
2. There is now a random Doctor Who quote at the bottom of this page.

I have added a reciprocal links page here. To get on the list add your details here. You will receive a link in your email, you must put this on your page somewhere, the more clicks you get the higher your link will move up the ranking.

“This must be Thursday,” said Arthur musing to himself, sinking low over his beer, “I never could get the hang of Thursdays.”
On this particular Thursday I have amused myself by adding a search thingie at the top right. It will search all pages on this site and there is an advanced search page here.

Erm… okay so it’s all change! I decided that the layout of the old site was getting too hard to cram everything into and the general style hadn’t changed for years so out with the old & in with the new. Hope you like it.
I guess I’m going to have to update this news page a bit more often now it’s on the front page, we’ll see how it goes…

I keep updating things and forgetting to add something here. Since the last entry in June I have updated the computer collection to add an SGI Indy I recently purchased, added to both the Linux and radio pages and I found a picture of a chevette that is a dead ringer for the one I used to own.
Whilst sorting through some of the cruft in my home directory recently I came across a copy of an interview that LinuxUK had with Uber Linux Hacker Alan Cox that hasn’t been available since their site revamp, so here it is.
There have been loads of other minor updates but I can’t remember them all.
WTF? cooking baked beans & other stuff in a toaster? there is something about this that appeals to me! another one of the strangest things that I have found on the net recently has got to be a photo of the street where my house is. How odd.

Went through and weeded out a stack of dead links. If you find any more please let me know. Also added the facility (since gone) for sending an SMS to people other than myself.
Dropped the Free Things page as it had become too much trouble to maintain.
The pages at http://www-sp.phy.cam.ac.uk/~jrb25/ detailing how to make your own Psion 3/5 cable seem to have gone so I have put a copy up here.

Changed quite a few things, mostly tidying up and cutting down on the amount of graphics throughout the site.

Changed some colours that were hard to read for some people, added some new arrivals to the machines page.

I have had a few problems with the domain zorg.org over the last week and this site has been up and down quite a bit (mostly down) – it is all working properly now, fingers crossed.
